We know that students from rural Australia are at a disadvantage – for a wide range of reasons – in regards to access to, and success in, higher education. Studies have shown the support by way of scholarships for financially disadvantaged students can not only increase the opportunity for further education and improve educational outcomes, but that these scholarships also contribute to their recipients’ improved self-efficacy and contribution to society.
We hope that the vast majority of our former residents – whether in the years of the Hostel or the Res – look back on their time as being hugely positive and important in setting you up for the future. Our great desire is that this can be an experience for others who might not have the financial means to take up accommodation at KSR.
The KSR Accommodation Scholarship Fund has been established with the Australian Communities Foundation, which acts as the trustee for the fund. The KSR Accommodation Scholarship is used to provide fee relief for those in financial need. Our vision is that the fund will one day provide enough fee relief to ensure that financial reasons will never prevent someone from living at the Res in order to undertake tertiary study.
We encourage all “Friends of KSR” to consider making a contribution to the fund through a once-off donation, regular giving or by leaving a bequest. Donations are tax-deductible. Anything given is much appreciated as we seek to make tertiary education in Melbourne available to all.
If you would like to leave a bequest, see more details here.
