If your question is not answered below, please send an email to info@kewstudentresidence.com.au and we would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

  • Kew in an inner-eastern suburb of Melbourne, about 6km from the CBD.  It is well serviced with buses and trams and close to the Glenferrie train station.  It is a safe suburb bordering the Yarra River, in the City of Boroondara, offering plenty of amenities such as shops, cafes, banks, pubs, parks, ovals and the Kew Rec Center is only a two minute walk from the Res!

  • No matter what Uni or TAFE you may attend there is a way to get to it from the Res. Swinburne and ACU are only a short tram ride away and RMIT city campus and Melbourne Uni are just a little further down the line.

There are buses and trams that take you to the Bundoora campuses of La Trobe or RMIT, even Monash Clayton is accessible via public transport. To find out more check out PTV journey planner.

  • Sharing a room is one of the things that make KSR unique. While it may be a daunting thought, we find that it really helps with getting to know people well in a new environment and many roommates become friends for life!

We work very hard to pair residents appropriately. An important part of your application interview is to find out a little about you to help us match you with your roommate. Returning second year students are able to select their own roommate.

  • Breakfast is available between 7am and 10am and lunch between 12-2pm. If you are heading into Uni for the day you are able to make a packed lunch in the morning and take it with you.

Dinner is a sit down meal served at 6pm.  It’s a great time to catch up on how each other’s day has been and hear about what events are coming up. If you can’t be there at dinner you just need to sign up for a late meal and one will be put aside for you to eat when you get home.

  • We offer a scholarship opportunity for those who are experiencing financial difficulties. The Scholarships are assessed by our Committee of Management at the start of each year. To apply for this, it is important that you have already submitted an application form and received a letter of offer.

To find out more about the scholarship, please head to our Scholarship page.

  • As well all your personal items (such as toiletries etc.), you need to provide your own bed linen, towels, office chair and laundry detergent. A mattress protector will be provided for you.

Some students also like to bring a fan and a small bin for their room (we provide large bins in each hallway). Portable air conditioners, heaters and refrigerators are not allowed, but we do have fridges available for student use.

If you want to bring something but are not sure if it is allowed, please check with us.

  • If your application is successful, you will be invited for an interview and tour of the residence. These take place during the July school holidays. This is to allow Year 12 students to attend without interrupting term-time learning.

Tours of KSR are by appointment only and are booked upon receipt of a completed application and notification by our Management.

If you are invited for a tour and interview but are unable to attend in person, we are happy to arrange a Zoom interview.

Watch our walthrough video here before you apply.
